Made in 2019, I have no idea why I'd not seen this movie until now. Perhaps it was the right time. I'm not going to review Overcomer, I'm telling you to see it. Words from me cannot explain the morale that comes from seeing this film. So, find it and see it. Enjoy. BB Sasore, thank you for this movie. I have no idea if you experienced this movie or someone else did, but, I am convinced this movie couldn't have been someone's muse - this was real life experience! Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't seen God Calling, you absolutely should. This movie has a star studded cast, amazing directing, apt graphics that just blow your mind and great acting that depicts reality to a zing. God Calling is about a family, man, wife and a daughter. They are happy, but wife doesn't like God or religion. It shows when she is forced to go to church by her little daughter and the pastor stops mid preaching to tell her 'God is calling you'. She scoffs it off and tells her husband that the pastor is looking for money. From thence, her life spirals out of control and brings her to a point she wants to kill herself... It's been a minute, folks. Hope you're holding up okay in the lockdown. The pandemic has necessitated that we do any and all things and that includes all the channels on DStv,  even the terrible ones; cue - African Magic Epic...shoot me already! Anyway, this evening, the movie Native Girl came up and apart from the descriptive name, what caught my attention and held it was the director's name - Yul Edochie. (Ahem, a few of us fancy his gravelly voice). He's a great actor though, and this was the first time I was seeing him as director, I was really interested in the movie. Except, when the movie began, I got distracted by another person, the herione - Judy Austin. She was phenomenal as the native girl who could only speak Ibo language despite her absolute beauty. Brief description: Yul Edochie played Uchenna, a business man in the US whose mom wants grandkids and therefore introduces a woman to him on phone. Said woman is so beautiful he approves his mother...

3 EVACUATION She stood on the deck of the ship as it slowly berthed at the walls of Marshland. A rope was let down from the parapet as opposed to the walkway, only let down when resources had to be transferred from the ship into Marshland. Laika had undressed the soldiers, even the guy in the control room, which she had tied up on his chair in only his under shorts. She had parked up all the uniforms and boots in a large duffel. She heaved it over her shoulder and began climbing the ladder with the conviction of meeting Zuka at the top. She wanted to grin when she saw that she’d been right but Zuka immediately looked down her cloths, questions shone in his eyes. “War. Cameroon is bombing this place in the morning and Nigeria isn’t going to do anything,” Laika explained urgently, dropping the duffel at his feet. “What…?” “I commandeered the ship, we have less than an hour to evacuate everybody before the soldiers at the wall suspect foul play.” “But, Laika…” “Hey...

2 SEIZURE The war started in her mind first. Laika took count of the soldiers on board the warship. She noticed that the armed guard beside her started twitching his nose as the ship made its torturous way through the college of crocodiles and possibly decayed bodies thrown into the marsh for as long as Marshland existed; bodies that the crocodiles apparently refused to devour, so pieces of human body parts floated around stinking up the place. First off, happy new year, y'all! It's been a wild while. I know it's almost the end of January, but hey, this is Nigeria, right? Lol!  So, a while back, like five couple of months, eating healthy in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was a bore. Plus it was reducing the weight of our purses instead of our belly and bumbum.  Anyhoo, take a look at the innocent cup below...  Innocent and exotic looking. This here cup goes for N1500 at 19, Uruan street - Freshblesyns Fruit Juice Bar.  It was innocent until I took the first scoop. Hmmmmmm! Sweet, blessed sweetness! I could practically see my flat stomach behind my eyelids. The crunch, the melt, the juicy, the sour, the sweet, all mixed to encourage a foodgasm!  I made love to the rest of that innocent looking cup. When I was done, it looked ravished and experienced. If you've ever lived in a hood, estate or GRA, you will definitely find characters that resemble someone you know or knew. House 69 is a movie about a young man who receives a package not meant for him and it gets him and his friend into trouble. This movie depicts the instant gratification that is prevalent among most youths. Director Eneng Chris, the writer and actors did a fantastic job of being realistic in depicting this story. As a writer and one who relates with the hood, this movie was not pretentious. It was absolutely real, amazing, true, hilarious and I hope it blows dollars for all involved. It was 20 minutes past midnight when the movie came on, and that happened because I'd set a reminder.  ( T ip:  this is the best time to catch awesome movies on dstv ) The name caught my attention but that reminder happened because I'd seen Kunle Afolayan as director. We all know Omugwo is an Ibo tradition where the mother of the just delivered wife stays for a time to take care of brand new baby and mother. I was excited to find out what this wonderful director would do with this overused story line, especially as a comedy. Patience Ozokwor, Ayo Adesanya, Ken Erics, Omowunmi Dada and somebody's new born baby and three month old baby, made up the main cast. Surprisingly, Patience was the good mother-in-law, even though she still exhibited some of the mischievousness that makes her a renown actress. Ayo Adesanya, unfortunately, was saddled with playing the Milan/Paris exposed mother-in-law, whose antics were a bit unrealistic for a Nigerian mother...but then, it...

Sisters in need of flat tommy, I greet you o!  So, I recently joined the trending Fit Fam gang and as expected, a WhatsApp group was involved. Next I know, menu was given and a long list of ingredients was posted.  Hmm, these ingredients were costly! Like, common minimum wage earner like me wee die from purchasing all these products. But I was determined, even though I knew in my mind I was only going to buy some. I sha started the exercises. Plenty pictures of exercise poses and meals which mostly consisted of smoothies, vegetables, chicken salad  and green teas later...one day I almost fainted o. A good friend advised that I try portion control which basically involved my normal Nigerian meals but in quantities smaller than the usual, increased protein and fruits intake.  I could do that... I did that. Plus the exercises, I started seeing results. There weren't big results but I noticed. Chicken salad became my best meal o, but where to find...

Nugget: See a movie first before you judge...  I'd seen trailers of this movie and had eagerly anticipated watching it. But, I became uncertain about it after reading a certain review, advising people against seeing the movie as it was a waste of time. Obviously, that was her opinion and just so, I could understand  her point, I did really look out for the concerns she'd raised, and I realized this lady must have been seeing the movie while having a bad hair day. Anyway, Chief Daddy is the generic African story of a wealthy man who had sewn a lot of wild oats and the legitimate wife got to find out after his death. Apart from the top notch cast which brought me giggles, everybody had their parts down! Special whoop to Falz, that guy got the British accent so down, it was annoying at some point. It's been a while and today isn't Sunday, but humor me. So,  I just saw the movie Close To Perfect, done by the Royal Arts Academy and starring Belinda Effah. Ha! In recent times I begun not liking Belinda, even though I was excited for her when she started out. She was so good and from my neck of the woods. But then she begun over acting... I wasn't feeling her... it was as though she was forcing it and I was pained and quite frankly, frustrated. But with this movie, hope bloomed that she wasn't a lost cause. She was indeed Close to perfect... pun intended!  This movie is about a young, maltreated Pastor's wife who has to live a charade with a husband who flagrantly cheats on her and refuses to sleep with her, all these done with his mother's support. The Pastor, played by Seun Akindele, brilliant performance by the way, listened only to his mother and though he would've loved to divorce his wife as she couldn't give him kids, he couldn...

Hi guys, So, in a bid to entertain you while still passing information about different kinds of hustles, we came up with a story series we are going to call "The Viewing Center". The series is going to be about the daily dramas that ensue in the process of streaming soccer matches and customers' reactions to things. Finally, she steals a pouch of diamonds, costly enough to be revenge and runs, but there is no place to hide, except...  Casmir Otong is returning from his wife's grave when a pregnant woman runs into the road, directly in front of his car. While he's recovering from narrowly avoiding an accident, said pregnant woman who isn't so pregnant, jumps into his car and urgently asks him to zoom off to avoid being caught by her phantom pursuers. Nothing is usual about the lady in his car. Louisa seems to bring out the best and worst in him, including emotions that he'd never experienced even with his wife. She was funny, cute, chubby, fair in complexion, in fact, she was...

I couldn't wait for next Sunday. I don't know how this movie will end, but damn it, I was enjoying the good old Mills and Boons love story when, bam!. .. I was hit with the reality that some women are just stupid!!! Or maybe, it's the heart that is stupid. But whatever, God has given us women some pretty strong wisdom and intuition, yet,  some of us just refuse, absolutely to use it! Man, I'm angry! God dammit! Watch the movie too and be furious. Peggy Ovire and Frederick Leonard made me recall why I read Mills and Boons as a teenager. I'm still angry.

This a question we all want answers to, but it's probably not going to be in this movie as it ended happily ever after. I met it half way and didn't really know the back ground of the story, but I have to say, the actors, especially, Van Vicker, was absolutely amazing at portraying his real emotions through facial expressions. Apparently, his fiancee, Ruth Kadiri, was with him for the money and not love. Van decided to beat her at her game and took her on a roller coaster ride, even landing both of them at Ruth's ex's house. The ex asked her to marry him and Van pretended to be her brother and encouraged her to agree. But then she got pregnant! Though, before that, she has already confessed that she was madly in love with Van and begged that they should abandon the scam and go do something for them selves. This is a nice movie. I cried! I laughed! I giggled! I was exasperated! I screamed! I smiled and chuckled and sobbed! And most of all, I loved! Oh my God! This movie wrung every possible emotion from me. I do not care if Nollywood copied this movie; if they did, then they copied it well. If they didn't copy, then, Wowza!! The film is about a  mute make up artist whose sole means of communication is through the written word, becomes close to the son of one of her best clients, however there is an obstacle stopping her from fully allowing him into her world. Ah! I've never paid attention to Bisola Aiyeola, but she killed it! I hope she got an award for this film; me, I'll start seeing any movie she's in. She and Mofe Duncan, my God, the chemistry was sweet. Shaffy Bello did not disappoint and Uche Ogbodo too. Written by Biodun Stephen - much respect.
