Saturday Special...

Beedo Sauce We had to make up a name for this one, so we landed at Beedo Sauce. Even our in-house chef and food scientist (since he's always experimenting) is yet to know the name of his creation. It could have been Beef-Dodo, like it's gizzard contemporary is called Gizz-dodo, but hey, where's the fun in that? Beedo Sauce sounds more exotic and well, it suits Saturday Special;  it would make a delicious surprise to that special someone or persons you might be hosting this weekend. HOW TO MAKE IT  As little as 2,000 naira can get you this beauty, it could be more or less, depending on the number of guests.  Ingredients Beef Ripe plantain (preferably soft ones)  Onions Garlic Ginger Seasoning (he used Mom's Pride Beef super seasoning)  Curry  Thyme Fresh Pepper  🌶  Fresh tomatoes  Fresh tatashe (optional) Vegetable oil  Salt  Beef stock  And you're ready to rumble!  Wash your meat, cut fat chonks, seaso

The Girl

I am strong. I can do what I put my mind to do. I'm smart, intelligent and have the Devine Feminine Intuition #DFI. I can be whatever I want to be. I fight off attacks with mind and muscle. Gina Carrano was once a girl. Girls can be super. I refuse to be a victim. I am stronger than that. Strength is in my DNA. I am strong! It is time to teach our girls to be heroines and not victims. Each girl child is born with super natural strengths just waiting to be unearthed and used.  So there are perverts in the world, there will always be, but can you teach your child self defence and be confident that she's safe wherever she is.  Men will always puff chests with the concept of ruling the world. But can you raise a girl that is intelligent and confident in her skills and skin and not have to compete with a man to feel validated.  Can women just stop being victims in violent relationships and raise girl  children that know they deserve better and have the co

The Hullabaloo of Sex Before Marriage

Ahem! So, sex before marriage... But before that, let's tackle the issue of some people, Nigerians, booing the 'indecent' wedding dress design of a 'pastor's daughter' aka former Sharon Oyakilome. The post used 'pastor's daughter' as though it was a sacrilege that her shoulders showed in church.  Amebo! Akproko!  It's shocking that people would regard her elegant dress indecent; like, have people run out of stuff to talk about?  Congratulations to her and all and what a stunning dress!  So, sex before marriage... Did Sharon actually declare not having sex with her husband before the wedding as read on some blogs? If she did, then crap, why?! It's nobody's business and shouldn't have been mentioned. Not having or having sex before marriage doesn't validate or make a good and sustainable marriage. It shouldn't be announced like it's a ticket to happily ever after. Seriously, such announc

Dating A Chubby Girl...

16 Funny But Possibly True Reasons Why People Become Entrepreneurs

Can't have a Boss - It could be for so many reasons one of them being pride and the inability to take orders. There just are some people who feel suffocated when given orders, so, they opt to be their own bosses.  2.  Easily Bored - These ones,  a normal 9 to 5 job would bore them out of their minds. Such people need new and interesting challenges to keep them excited.  3. Too Creative - Even in their sleep, new ideas emerge in form of dreams. Their minds are always working and superiors who can't use this talent might feel threatened and send them off or the creative person might just realize how awesome he/she is and decide to do their own thing.  4. Too Impatient - We might be talking about persons 1, 2, and 3 here.  5. With a criminal streak - This is scary but yes, who wants to employ a light finger? But it is said,  "Give a thief money to keep and it's sure to be kept safe". As an entrepreneur, a criminal can't steal from his/her sel

Movie Review - Banana Island Ghost

Sundays are for movies... Truth be told, there was nothing fascinating about this movie from the trailer. It had just seemed like one of those fickle comedies. No doubt, Nollywood is upping the ante in movies but when juxtaposed with foreign movies in stories and delivery, ehh...we are still behind.  So, my sister calls me up and enthuses about how I would love Banana Island Ghost and I scrounged my face even though she couldn't see me and asked, "Why do you think I'd love it?" She goes, "Oh, it's funny. It has everything you like, you know, plus size girl and all!" I was sold at 'plus size girl'. As a writer of plus size fiction -(https://Okadabooks.com/user/Ememjamesbassey), I appreciate bold ladies being given lead roles. So, I promised I'd see the movie.  A few days later, I read a review of the movie on twitter and the tweet had absolutely nothing good to say about it. Tweeting a reply, I reserved judgement
