A Great Movie Review for this Sunday! - Ovy's Voice

I cried! I laughed! I giggled! I was exasperated! I screamed! I smiled and chuckled and sobbed! And most of all, I loved! Oh my God! This movie wrung every possible emotion from me. I do not care if Nollywood copied this movie; if they did, then they copied it well. If they didn't copy, then, Wowza!! The film is about a  mute make up artist whose sole means of communication is through the written word, becomes close to the son of one of her best clients, however there is an obstacle stopping her from fully allowing him into her world. Ah! I've never paid attention to Bisola Aiyeola, but she killed it! I hope she got an award for this film; me, I'll start seeing any movie she's in. She and Mofe Duncan, my God, the chemistry was sweet. Shaffy Bello did not disappoint and Uche Ogbodo too. Written by Biodun Stephen - much respect. And directed by Dimeji Ajibola - I'm bowing for your tightness, director! 🙌🏽 This film handled so many societal issues wit...

This Sunday's Movie Review

I hate poetry.  As a teenager, I didn't like it as part of my literature and it got worse as I grew. I had the impression, I still do, that poets try as much as possible to confuse with their words. I mean, why give me a headache in a bid to understand what was supposed to be entertaining and pleasant?  I diverse. This movie is obviously about poetry and when my sister asked me to see it, I refused but she transferred it to my laptop anyway, and I thank her. Yes, you heard me, I thank her.  The movie might have started out a bit boring, after the first scene anyway, but I begun enjoying it when I realized what poetry should be and what Rap has become. It pains me to agree with the movie that rap, which I love, has become redundant by only voicing violence, promiscuous sex, money as the epitome of good life while poetry is so much more.  The movie made me recall the only man that made me love poetry by teaching me rhymes. The movie inspire...

New Book Alert!

So, yours truly finally published a book on Okadabooks, Yay! 🙌🏽 This book is about love, blood that is thicker and also thinner, of betrayal and things that could make a person take drastic decisions and mostly of the strong bond of destiny.  It also idealizes what the Nigerian Police should be while adding spots of humor to entertain.  This book goes for just two hundred naira (#200) and it's an awesome quiet weekend companion, you can thank me later 😉. The link to get the book is - https://okadabooks.com/book/about/forever_destiny__adult_only_18/24195 Enjoy.  A lovely Sunday to y'all. 😘

Another Sunday Movie Review - A Rant

More like Fifty Shades Fed-up! The producers of this franchise could have given it all while they were still ahead. The three parts could have made a pretty explosive one movie or two, if they really hated the idea of one. Granted, the first part was novel and so sold like wild fire, after the second part, I believe readers of smut  books were pretty frustrated. The producers did shock audiences by pushing the boundaries of propriety in a box office, but after that, it was just bleh; humans adjust to things pretty quickly. The second part of the movie should have been more spectacular than the first, but it wasn't. So, the third was simply obligatory and for bragging rights " Yay! I saw Fifty Shades Freed". As a pornographic movie, this would be a success, it has an awesome story line and numerous sex scenes that in a box office were quite vanilla.  A movie like this needs the full dose, not giving a lot but not enough - know what I mean? And then they went ...

Saturday Special...

Beedo Sauce We had to make up a name for this one, so we landed at Beedo Sauce. Even our in-house chef and food scientist (since he's always experimenting) is yet to know the name of his creation. It could have been Beef-Dodo, like it's gizzard contemporary is called Gizz-dodo, but hey, where's the fun in that? Beedo Sauce sounds more exotic and well, it suits Saturday Special;  it would make a delicious surprise to that special someone or persons you might be hosting this weekend. HOW TO MAKE IT  As little as 2,000 naira can get you this beauty, it could be more or less, depending on the number of guests.  Ingredients Beef Ripe plantain (preferably soft ones)  Onions Garlic Ginger Seasoning (he used Mom's Pride Beef super seasoning)  Curry  Thyme Fresh Pepper  🌶  Fresh tomatoes  Fresh tatashe (optional) Vegetable oil  Salt  Beef stock  And you're ready to rumble!...

The Girl

I am strong. I can do what I put my mind to do. I'm smart, intelligent and have the Devine Feminine Intuition #DFI. I can be whatever I want to be. I fight off attacks with mind and muscle. Gina Carrano was once a girl. Girls can be super. I refuse to be a victim. I am stronger than that. Strength is in my DNA. I am strong! It is time to teach our girls to be heroines and not victims. Each girl child is born with super natural strengths just waiting to be unearthed and used.  So there are perverts in the world, there will always be, but can you teach your child self defence and be confident that she's safe wherever she is.  Men will always puff chests with the concept of ruling the world. But can you raise a girl that is intelligent and confident in her skills and skin and not have to compete with a man to feel validated.  Can women just stop being victims in violent relationships and raise girl  children that know they deserve better and ...
